So last night, I went to see The Scorch Trials with my friends!!! I thought, even though it was vary different from the books, that it was fantastic! The best movie I've seen in a while. I now can understand why in some interviews Wes Ball has said the books and the movies are two different things. I compleatly understand that now, and I agree. The first movie was way more like the book then the second movie, and I think that's what made them more comparable.
I would like to share one thing though.
I just realized this today. So in the movies its about the action and then the character feelings as a separate little thing. But the books aren't about the action, but about how the characters react and bond over what's happening in the action. I just realized that that's the thing I think the movie missed, because it's not about the action and how many cranks can you fight off at once, but how after they fight them off, how the characters connect and become closer because of what they've been through. I think the movie touched on it, but the action was the main part of it. The first movie did more character stuff then this one, I think so that they could get you attached to the characters and then put them into the action and basically abandon character development. It is in the second movie, but not as much so as I would have liked. I mean, it is a movie you can't see Thomas's thoughts like you could with the books and how he was always thinking of his friends, but I think we loss a lot of that in the movies. They did have character development with Teresa, and the betraying. And we see how they care for eachother, but I just feel like they lost a lot of what made these books my favorite.
The books and the movies are separate things, the books are the emotion, and the movies are the action. You cant really compare them to eachother. There are many things I wish they would have had in the movie, but it was still so fantastic, brilliant, great, amazing, awesome... Everything.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, I so highly recommend it! Everyone involved did such a good job with it.
What are your thoughts on my response? As of now with is the only review-type post I'm going to make. If you would like me to make another, don't be afraid to comment! If you want to talk/fangirl about the books or movies you can email me at fangirlandco.com
